Both St. Cuthbert's and St. Stephen's held open days for the national Heritage open days from Friday 9th - Sunday 11th September. This year we commemorated 100 years anniversary of The Battle of the Somme as well as our own churches heritages. We had a visit from our local MP Jake Berry and years 4 and 5 from St. Cuthbert's Primary School.
Once again St. Cuthbert's church braved the rain and wind and took part in Darwen's Annual Gala. We had our usual 3 stalls of cakes, bottle and children's Tombola's we raised an excellent £587. We would like to thank all those who were involved either on the day, by donating items, or just coming to buy something on the stalls.
The PCC of Darwen, St Cuthbert with Tockholes St. Stephen would like to announce that we have been successful in our search for a new parish priest. The Rev. Nicholas Davis who is currently the priest-in-charge at Holy Trinity, Tarleton and St Mary the Virgin, Rufford w Holmeswood, he will be taking over the role in the very near future more details to follow.
Once again the parish held its annual crown green bowls evening at Blackburn Subscription Bowling Club on the 6th June 2016. Well done to David Ainsworth who won and to Chris Rugg for being the runner up. Click the image to view image gallery.
St. Cuthbert's hosted a choral concert on the 16th July as a fond farewell to Vaughn our Organist and Master of the Choristers. St Cuthbert's Church choir were joined by Adamas' Voces and The Rawstorne Singers.
